Kid Karate Two Times
Never letting the ball drop, Trap Door and Finn Keenan have collaborated once again on Trap Door’s latest single Wake Up. They had a hard act to follow considering the video to Lata Town was so epic and so well received.
Not only has it been successfully pulled off but Trap Door now have a distinctive style, their very own flavour. It is about making the most of situations, seeing the light, enjoying life. It is forward thinking and never ending. It is youth as a mentality and a way of life. It is disregard for banalities and embracing diversity and fun. Wake Up is feel good, mood jostling audio and visual.

Alma Har’el took on the piece,Fjögur Píanó, enlisting Shia LeBeouf and Denna Thomsen as his characters to paint a picture of love, intimacy, fragility and insanity. The facade never stops and effortlessy buzzes through emotion and feeling, leaving viewers touched, mesmerized, confused and reeling from the intensity of the eight minute piece that searches for answers or explanations to something that emotes both familiarity and alienation.
Dublin band, Cry Monster Cry’s, single As Long As You’re Left To Carry On is depicted beautifully by videographer Ruairi Galavan. The muted tones and setting of the piece intertwine beautifully with the bands incredible musicality.

Alice Della. Alice. Della. It rolls around the mouth and drips off the tongue and then you see this video. And then you kind of start to understand. DKNY, Bordelle, a set of drums, criss cross lingerie, messy hair, tattoos. Della encompasses primitive for Matthew Donaldson’s explosive short.

Hailing from Tallaght, Trap Door are quickly making a name for themselves as Dublin’s next big thing. Single, ‘Lata Town’, seems to be a concrete basis for this well deserved accreditation; It’s quick, sharp, catchy and dares you not to dance. Combined with the work of videographer Finn Keane, the visual created is the perfect accompanient to the single. Shot in black and white on Dublin streets, close ups of faces, people dancing, laughing, running all make for a video reminiscent of just genuinely having a laugh. Trap Door are ticking all the boxes and to be perfectly honest, I can’t get enough.
